Privacy & Fair Use Policy

Welcome to OmeBox (the educational demonstration file and text sharing platform). This privacy policy explains how we handle data, what we do not do with your information, and the rules you agree to when using this service. This is a strictly educational project. By using OmeBox, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

1. No Login, No Account — No Personal Data

OmeBox does not require registration, email, or any personal identifier. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, or any real identity. Because there is no account system, we never store personal profiles. This is by design: privacy first.

2. What Data Do We Collect?

We collect only the minimum necessary to operate the temporary sharing service:

• Files/text you upload: They are stored temporarily according to the expiration you choose (15 min – 30 days). After expiry, they are automatically purged.
• Basic server logs: Like almost every web server, we may record anonymous technical data (timestamp, IP address in truncated form, browser type) for security and debugging. These logs are not sold or used for identification.

We do NOT: read your files for marketing, sell any data, or share uploaded content with third parties. Your shared link is only accessible to those you give it to.

3. Encryption & Data Handling

All transfers to and from OmeBox are encrypted using HTTPS / TLS (the standard web encryption). This means files and text are secured while in transit. At rest, files are stored on our servers with basic filesystem protections, but we do not apply additional per-file encryption (they are deleted automatically after expiration). We consider all uploads as temporary and ephemeral.

4. No Monitoring of Content — But Unethical Use Is Forbidden

We do not actively monitor, screen, or review the files or text shared via OmeBox. However, we absolutely prohibit:

• Sharing illegal material (copyright infringement, malware, CSAM, etc.)
• Harassment, doxxing, or distributing personal information without consent
• Any use that violates applicable laws

5. Third Parties & Cookies

OmeBox does not use tracking cookies, analytics tools (like Google Analytics), or marketing pixels. We may use essential functional cookies (e.g., to maintain upload session) that are temporary and do not identify you. No third-party advertisers are involved. We believe in minimal interference.

6. Children's Privacy

OmeBox is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we require no registration, we have no way to verify age — but we encourage parents to supervise internet use. If you believe a child has shared something inappropriate, contact us and we will try to remove it promptly.

7. Policy Changes & Updates

This privacy policy may be changed or updated at any time without prior notice. Changes become effective immediately upon posting. We may adjust wording, add clarifications, or modify practices as the educational project evolves. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically. The "last updated" date at the top reflects recent changes.

8. Data Retention & Your Control

Files and text are automatically deleted after the expiration time you select. We do not keep backups. If you want a shared file removed before expiration, there is no manual delete button (by design, to keep things simple); however, because links are unguessable and temporary, the content will expire shortly. If you need immediate removal for a valid reason (e.g., accidental sensitive data), you may reach out via contact below and we will do our best to manually purge it.

9. Contact (for concerns only)

If you have questions about this policy, or if you believe something inappropriate has been shared (unethical use), you can send a brief notice. We will review but cannot guarantee removal of all content. Keep in mind that for urgent legal matters, local authorities should be contacted.
